Happy Solstice!

Post by RedRosa »

Solstice blessing to you all, friends! (Summer/Litha for those north of the equator, Winter/Yule for those down south.)

A pessimist would say the nights are beginning to draw in.
An optimist would say, in only 6 months time the days will be getting a wee bit longer again ha!

I’m currently in Sweden and had a great time at a midsommar celebration last week 😊

The optimist in me is thankful the nights are getting longer again because I sleep at least a little better when it doesn't get light as early.

I like the longer days, but there's a happy medium.

That's a good way of looking at it, I have the window and curtains open to get air at night but then light and really loud birds wake me starting wayyyyy too early. I hate how stuffy it gets with the window closed (and the house is so old and decrepit I have to get help every time I open/close the window, it's so stiff) but I'm so sleep deprived I had to shut it last night

Those very loud birds you speak of wake me up too. I just think they're very inconsiderate! I mean, why do they have to make such a racket at some ridiculously early hour? ha!

It turned out to be a MockingBird, that I swear had memorized the discordant horror theme music from YellowJackets, but it has at least temporarily moved on to terrorize someone else! \o/

I couldn't help but think of the time an obnoxious wild parrot had perched in the palm tree that grew in front of my window (I live on the second floor,) My writing desk is in front of that window, and the constant squawks were pain in the ass distraction, so I found my cat and put her on the desk -- when she heard the squawk she meowed and the parrot shut up.

Ha! I envy you an actual useful cat! Ours bring live mice INTO the house in their mouths and release them, they are worse than useless!
