Anyone going to Pride events this year? I’m probably going to be the only bi in the parade, but I’ll proudly wave my pride flag at my local city parade. I’ll have to remember to post some pics after.

I already went to ours - it happens earlier than official Pride month because it gets very hot. Last year, it was in early June, and it was over 100F.

This year was earlier, and more temperate, but we almost got rained out. I guess there's no perfect.

I'd be surprised if you were the only bi person.

In previous Pride the only visible bi prescience was my bi group, which consisted of about 6 people on the parade. We had a great big banner and waved our flags. Each group was announced, but as we walked by there was a pause then they announced the group behind us. I even had someone come up to me and ask where I got my trans pride flag from, it was the bi flag. That’s how little represented we were that people couldn’t even recognise the flag. This year I don’t have a group anymore, I’m walking as a lone participant. I’ve got a zoom meeting later with the organisers to discuss health and safety etc. DH has bought a straight but don’t hate t-shirt so he can represent the allies. I’m really looking forward to it.

Ooh I may be representing my work place on a Pride stall in a June. I just had an email asking for volunteers so I hope I get picked. Feeling all excited now.

I've volunteered the past few years and really like it. This year, I volunteered one day and not the other - I was much happier on the day I volunteered, even though it was largely just sitting around watching things, not much different from the day I wasn't volunteering. It's easier for me to get out of my head if I'm there with a purpose.

I have to say that I'm ambivalent about the evolution of Pride parades in WeHo, San Francisco and NYC. You see all these corporate sponsorship signs and floats which show acceptance but also commodify what for me is a civil rights issue.

Also, let's not forget that Pride began as an act of rebellion, a transgression, a very risky confrontation with authority. We didn't have "Pride Parades," but a liberation march led by people at risk and in jeopardy.

I would not get involved in a pride parade for no other reason that it’s not something I identify with.
Fine for others, but it doesn’t interest me at all.
I appreciate different causes but it’s like sitting in the southern hemisphere watching a documentary on the struggles of First Nations people in Canada, the Ukraine war or Palestine, Sudan etc. Relatable from the context of viewing it as a cause and struggle that needs support but it’s not my struggle.

I understand being bisexual or gay is a political identity for some - and I meet Robyn Ochs’ defintion of bi but I’m not into that type of cause.
I’ll play songs by Lady Gaga, she seems to have a sexuality like mine that dates men and has been with women sexually - but she’s a vocal and open supporter of lgbtq community too.
I’ll play songs by Madonna, Brendon Urie etc too.
But musical quality isn’t determined by sexuality.
