Oof, I’m sorry that the Tai Chi instructor is that unprofessional in way the she expresses herself. Regardless of whether her political views are shared by the rest of her class, that makes her look bad (and takes you and others out of the moment). 🫤

My resolution, if I’m calling it that, is to be less hard on myself/less of doing things “the hard way.”

I have not had a lot of luck with martial arts instructors, and am beginning to think that maybe it just goes with the territory. Especially in recent years, with a lot of these sort of spaces becoming more radicalized.

My first instructor, back in high school, I'd say was an excellent instructor and unproblematic at the time. But as he is now, I'm not certain if he's one of the most admirable people I know, or gone off the deep end. Or perhaps both.

The other two (not including the current one) were both extremely problematic.

How is going now? Have you managed to find another class that suits you? Why does exercise have to be so hard? If only it was as easy to lose weight as it is to put it on!
Nearly 4 years ago I joined the gym and got In to a great routine of going at least 4 times a week and the weight started to fall off me. I was the happiest and healthiest I had ever been I lost almost 5stone and dropped 3 dress sizes - Then covid struck and all the gyms closed! After the lockdowns I tried to get back into my routine but I had lost my motivation.
My weight is creeping back up again but I have decided I never want to go back to being as big as I was so I am now really trying to push myself again.

I've totally fallen off the wagon. Had big life stuff happen and just have not been motivated to drag myself out in the morning for a class I don't particularly want to go to anyways.

When DST starts, I can start doing the evening classes again. Maybe that'll do it. I did reasonably enjoy the few times I went to Zumba before the time change.

Motivation is my biggest down fall too, when life is tough it makes it that extra bit harder too. I try to celebrate even the small bits of progress for instance getting in more steps than the day before.

More hours of daylight deffinatly helps, I find the winter months so long and depressing - I was deffo made for summer 😊
I tried Zumba but my coordination is shocking, I couldn't keep up and almost fell over my own feet several times 😂 gave my daughter a great laugh at my expense!

I agree daylight savings makes a difference in motivation/willingness to do things after work.

It's not about willingness/motivation - it's an actual matter of timing. I live in a state that does not participate in DST and work in a state that does, so my work hours change with the time change.

During the winter, I work 9-6, so can attend morning classes that run 7-8.

During the rest of the year, I work 8-5, so I can attend evening classes that start at 5:30.

(Tai chi is 7-7:30, so it would be accessible year round if the teacher weren't a Trump fan)

There's a motivation factor as well, but most of it is truly logistical.
